In Echo Base, snow is falling from the ceiling and walls as the walkers come closer, and the heavy footfalls of the walkers can be heard and felt here. R2D2 seems a bit worried.

Captain Piett nervously watches out of the corner of his eyes how Admiral Ozzel chokes next to him while he listens to Darth Vader’s orders. The Dark Lord of the Sith orders him to prepare to land troops for the ground attack, and to deploy the ships in the Hoth system so nobody can escape.

Piett is pleased by his sudden promotion, but he is also clearly quite afraid of Darth Vader after the presentation of his powers.

The fleet has moved out of hyperspace, but an area of the sixth planet of the Hoth system is protected by an energy field strong enough to deflect any bombardement.

Darth Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith, is angry. “The Rebels are alerted to our presence. Admiral Ozzel came out of light-speed too close to the system.”
General Veers tries to defend the Admiral’s decision. “He felt surprise was wiser…”
But Darth Vader is having none of it: “He is as clumsy as he is stupid. General, prepare your troops for a surface attack.”
The General is visibly frightened and leaves Vader quickly.
